First blog post: A Leap of Faith

“Remind yourself, nobody built like you, YOU design yourself.” – Jay-Z

It takes a great deal of confidence to believe in your vision. It takes an even greater leap of faith to make it happen. God enables us to fulfill his duties. It takes some deep digging at first but that’s the whole purpose. It keeps us in a meaningful pursuit for progression. In that sense fear isn’t an excuse when faith is the answer. Faith always answers the call. Belief is the most powerful force God has provided us. Choosing to take that unknown road ahead will reveal to us understanding. Understanding that uncovers the depths of our potential. It’s how we chose to design and rebuild ourselves from our experiences. To be patient enough with ourselves to unlearn and relearn. God let’s us figure it out through our works, while giving us promising signs of hope along the way. Works in progress shall not be interrupted. Sacrifice the need to know how everything will turn out, instead enjoy the journey. We can write our own scripts, but God has written the script in what it takes to lead us to victory! That’s enough in itself to be thankful for. Give all glory to God and never complain about the life we were chose to live out.

“For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” – Romans 8:24-25

CurtxBone: My Introduction

I wanted to take my time with this fitness video and showcase how my passion ties into my purpose. The fitness industry is a popular trend these days. As a certified personal trainer we have a responsibility to hold integrity and build a business that helps people. That’s not always primarily a physical aspect; having an impact with our clientele is a intangible. Establishing a rapport is key when training clients and I am inspired to engage people with knowledge and motivation. Even on days where my energy is low my discipline will never be. That’s the basic message I try to get across to people when I engage in training them. Becoming anew isn’t easy; transformation takes patience.

How can we train our body to optimal shape before we train our mind? That’s a formula for failure. Any achievement that withstood a roadblock first needed a tune up with the mental belief that change is possible.

I want to bring my light to the world and uplift through my works of faith. God has me on this earth to do great honors in his glory. I had to accept my mission and leave my comfort zone to do so. I share my gift as best I can. I speak most when there’s an opportunity to inform with some takes of wisdom I gained. Everyday is a learning experience and every step I’ve taken has left a mark that is slowly setting the stage for countless years of hardwork I put in. I want to provide my journey to those who support the movement and trail-blaze into this fitness industry in my own way.

Countervail – to exert force against an opposing and often bad or harmful force or influence.

“Reinvent every-time the music change, my gut had me feeling like I knew the way.” – Nipsey Hussle

““Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” – Ephesians 4:29

If I am a cup maker, I’m interested in making the best cup I possibly can. My effort goes into that cup, not what people think about it.” – Denzel Washington

One of my favorite films starring Denzel Washington is called “The Book of Eli.” The messaging and symbolical references of the bible being lived through the character of Eli is so prolific. One scene I love that stands out is the questioning of Eli’s purpose in being so protective of this book he carries. Solara (Mila kunis) is persistent in following behind Eli with little understanding of his mission supplied by a voice (God) to head west and deliver on what he was told to do. Eli simply replies “I walk by faith, not by sight.” Literally he is blind in sight but figuratively in faith he is not. Its a trusting on his behalf into a higher calling. No doubts can coexist with the delivering of God’s promises.

That’s a real honor of God’s will to be handed such a challenge. That speaks very highly in how much God believes we can handle. No matter what crossed this man’s path, God told him not to give the book up under any circumstances. He would always be protected. Even when Eli failed in a moment and conceded defeat to those chasing him down for the book for their own selfish desires; God still kept his word. Eli could account word for word on what he had to say once his destination was reached; even when they took his reward! Taking a possession is useless when its not meant for the taker to understand! They have no way to truly possess something that was created internally and lived out by someone else. Eli’s story was written as the days went on. God isn’t answering because he doesn’t want to but because Eli had to journey through his faith to experience the answer behind his purpose!

I love the journey of self improvement. I enjoy being taught in a way that is proactive and not reactive. I then give that same energy in helping other’s see the light in self improvement. Its not a quick fix; its a life building block. In my experience I want to express to those that struggle with reaching their potential that we are not our flawed moments. We’re living day to day within our certain modes that are easy to trigger versus being addressed. Rarely do we have the insight from other’s to be talked to and not talked at. Its a difference in getting criticized versus being built up through constructive criticism.

I think sometimes at how I changed certain views of myself by stepping out of my comfort zone. I did it for my own well being and my faith in God of course. I was never pressured in adjusting my character to fit someone else’s predetermined mold. That is a disservice to all that I’m capable of becoming. In that same note I had to believe in what I felt I was passionate about. It’s a level of accountability that we hold to tell our stories. Its in our destiny to reach inspiring heights. There’s no reward in playing things small and there’s no perception higher than the one we think about ourselves.

Everyone won’t view this the same but that’s the point. We’re all in different stages of perception. Regardless of the stage though, criticism comes from a place in people that perceives someone as their idea instead of what they have the potential to do. We should never change who we are to fit a mold. It’s even funnier that when you decide to make a change or live in your potential perceptions change. What people don’t take time to understand is their own misconception; who we choose to become is our own responsibility. Outside forces should never be a main motivating factor in making changes in our life.

To everyone that reads these words know that God entrusts us with our own missions. Its a choice to discern the differences in how we go about accomplishing it. Believe in the power of good energy. Don’t be susceptible to releasing bad energy out of character. There’s nothing more honorable than being a good-hearted person in an cruel world. If our faith isn’t nourished and restored daily this world will eat us alive and turn us cold-hearted if we let it. That’s never the answer. Respect in due time God will neutralize any negative energy that opposes his will. Nothing we do in good intent can be captured. Destruction is temporary; belief is victory and Glory is ours forever. Have the wisdom to learn from those who walked the path before and laid out the right way.  Making better choices starts with having that type of self identity and faith. Don’t be naive in thinking perception is completion. Real completion is a constant renewing of our perceptions.

“When you learn, teach. When you get, give.” – Maya Angelou

My mother used to tell me man gives the award, God gives the reward. I don’t need another plaque.” – Denzel Washington

“For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.”

– Proverbs 3:26

Pillar of Strength

“The harvest is plentiful; but the workers are few.” – Luke 10:2

“Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.” – Mark 7:5

“For hardship does not spring from the soil; nor does trouble sprout from the ground.” – Job 5:6

In this daily quest we call life I commonly find the greatest achievement is to unlock our wealth of knowledge. I’m big on watching interviews from some of the most inspirational figures of past/current times. They all can come from different walks of life but somehow still share that same common denominator. At some point for these successful figures success became empty. It left them all the pressure to convert their coal (Experiences) into a diamond (Wisdom). They stand out from the pack because they realized along the way how stardom is an illusion but being in the service to fulfill their faith was their sole mission from God.

It’s admirable to other’s when we uncover and light our path in life because they are lost within a matrix. This world has gotten people defeated and content to stop serving their inner light; making them feel worthless. Each step you take, big or small, could seriously be that connection a lost soul is hoping to receive. That’s why it is imperative we don’t quit on ourselves. Life is demanding but it’s also an inheritance for what is to come. God has given us flawed humans a chance to be an example to become a realistic inspiration. He’s done all of the work and perfected himself on this earthly plain; so it makes sense to be used by God so that he works through us for other’s. Some receive the message, many won’t. This world is fading in distress and the signals are being ignored. We must become a pillar of faith if we are calling for a sign from God.

We have to be level headed in taking on challenges; to not be quick in reactions but careful in thinking. Our motivation to do and act will die off if there isn’t a resource to explain it. We won’t always feel like doing the tough tasks we face but that’s where we train to be disciplined. For those around me and many more that find my inspiration, I can never let them down. I take on that responsibility knowing this earthly life will try to wear me thin, test my thoughts, and deepest principles but I promise to never quit. There are those who depend on me crossing their path so that we can continue this journey of life and see where we truly belong. Our God in heaven will bring those days to come. So even in our lowest days our inner light can overpower the darkest clouds above our heads. The biggest success is our continued quest for wealth of knowledge. We decide our mind is our greatest warrior. Within that mindset we can understand that we are a pillar of strength that is protected. So we can never truly fail; we only learn more about ourselves.

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” – Romans 12:2

“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man; and God is faithful. He won’t let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.” – 1 Corinthians 10:13

“All I’m trying to do is survive and make good out of the dirty, nasty, unbelievable lifestyle that they gave me.” – Tupac

“Spoke some things into the universe and they appeared. I say it’s worth it, I won’t say it’s fair. Find your purpose or you wasting air.” – Nipsey Hussle

“An example is more potent than an opinion.” – Inky Johnson

“I see negativity just like most people but I choose not to devote my focus or energy towards it.” – Inky Johnson

Spiritual Warfare

“Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:11-13

“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.” – 1 Timothy 6:6-12

As we walk our own individual paths in this earthly world God has foresighted us on, we must trust in the good forces surrounding us in the invisible spiritual realm. These good forces are angels in disguise that appear the most when belief is at it’s strongest point. The type of good forces that give a lasting comfort of faith; not a jolt of deceit. God purposed exactly for us to expect negative energy’s and evil forces trying to capture the Glory God has won us already. I know for one that I see myself being drained dealing with the same troubles daily but I remind myself to set my eyes on sights above.

I shouldn’t even be vibrating on a frequency that will allow me to entertain such distractions and ignorance. It’s a daily spiritual warfare that I battle trying to make sense of a world that doesn’t operate on the foundation of God’s principles; so I can’t be upset that a battle against this world may as well be a lost cause. I find myself gaining unlimited faith when I dive into the bible and God’s word. They are truly revelations that we are responsible for recognizing.

IMG_2726There needs to be a level of contentment within ourselves to understand the workings and mysterious ways of God. We will burn ourselves out physically and mentally without building our spiritual knowledge; knowing that knowledge comes when God says and not a second later. I find myself questioning things that happen to irk my soul but bare such little power in God’s grace. I always come to that spot of humility not realizing that the man above would never have tempted me and burdened me more than I can bear; for as long as I sought out our father in heaven. His kingdom reigns. Evil and negativity will destroy itself; so don’t follow the path of being a prisoner to this world. God’s presence is here; but he comes to us as we come to ourselves. Gratitude is definitely riches; while complaint is and will always be the real poverty.

Go the extra Mile

Turning Point– a time at which a decisive change in a situation occurs, especially one with beneficial results.”

I couldn’t bare staying the same; neither would I succumb to the tension I had built up in me. I just needed an escape to get a plan of action together; so I went for a run. Just like that my mind was cleared. Then I went for another run the next day; 6am in the morning to be exact. Soon this little habit of mine would turn into a mile a day run. Rarely have I’ve taken days off since. What if I hadn’t change? I did change. Failure wasn’t an option.

Today marks 7 years since I created a lifestyle that saved me from myself. God heard my signal of distress; seeing as how I literally took the first step. It’s what happens when blind faith meets divine intervention. I smile and chuckle a bit thinking about that young man I used to be. He has vanished for good reason!

It’s hard to convince people now that I wasn’t this motivational individual I am today. Back then I had weight problems that fluctuated and my health started to be in danger due to turmoil and stress. It’s like standing beside yourself feeling burnt out. Without a healthy release things can go south very quickly; but nothing alters until we help ourselves.

There’s an interesting theory called the “Zeigarnik effect” coined by psychologist Bluma Zeigarnik. The theory states we remember interrupted or uncompleted tasks better than tasks that have been completed. We can directly relate this to our “what ifs” and “coulda, woulda, shoulda’s.” It’s also harmful in showing that we, as individuals, are so busy trying to correct unfinished business we build internal tension. This can make us overlook our good qualities and characteristics. Not providing a form of positive stability in self motivating ourselves can cause us to demoralize ourselves mentally.

We must be careful in how we speak to ourselves when deciding on going that extra mile. Those self talks can either provide us uplifting motivation or demotivate and deter us to start. We cannot let the damage and hits we take from the world inflict damage to the person we need to constantly grow into. It can feel like a huge pressure to suddenly change our ways; it can only happen by a gradual build up from daily commitments. Take heart and be reminded that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

“Intent reveals desires; actions reveals commitment.” – Steve Maraboli

“The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.” – Vince Lombardi

“The only way to defeat pain is to recognize pain exists.” – Ray Lewis

“May the favor of the lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us. Yes, establish the work of our hands.” – Psalms 90:17

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matt 6:21

“Small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” – Matt 7:14

I find it quite amusing that you can stop a passion you love for the time being; but it sure does find a way to call you back to the forefront eventually. Whether you return that call or not is strictly your decision. It’s life’s way of telling you “hey, the option is there. you can’t say you never had another chance at it.” I’d rather not leave a stone unturned but isnt there a point where you have to be content you did all you could? Do you feel like you’ve given all you got? why does that itch to go grind out this passion return? or does it ever really subside?

“Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.” – Michael Corleone (The Godfather)

I don’t like running away from anything that my heart desires as long as breeds positivity. Even if I tell myself otherwise to go get away from entertaining the idea, I’m consistent in following my commitments. I’ll refer to Matt 7:14 again, as it stated earlier, “few find the road that leads to life.” It’s a fine line you have to walk in balancing when to stay on one road and when to get off another. You can be so caught up in wanting your heart’s desire, but is it for all the right reasons? If it is continue on, if not find contentment and take with you the gems of joy and knowlege.

The treasures we seek are not to be found because it never leaves us. If you truly have an opportunity and advantage to add more life to what you already passionately enjoyed then by all means take it. Time is not guranteed. Things and places can be here today, and gone tomorrow. Life’s like a painting on the wall; get to close you can’t see the details of the whole picture, but when you step back you grasp and understand what it is you’re looking at in it’s entirety.

We tend to live too up close to our life’s paintings and partly understand things. God only gives us a portion of understanding and we don’t have the patience to step back and trust that much he gives us. This is why God’s understanding everlastly reigns. For as long as you seek the heart’s treasure you will forever be restless; because your passion is timeless and takes a lifetime to complete.

Déjà Vu

“Whatever you have learned or heard from me, or seen in me put it into practice and the God of peace will be with you.” – Phil 4:9

“The control of our being is not unlike the combination of a safe. One turn of the knob rarely unlocks the safe; each advance and retreat is a step toward one’s final achievement.” – Bruce Lee

Deja Vu is an interesting theory. It’s defined as “a feeling of having already experienced the present moment.” Many scientists and experts say that it’s only our minds comparing a past situation that is similar to fit into the current one we’re in. They deem it as only a figment of our imagination and nothing more than we are making it to be.

Myself, being the open-minded person I am, choose to apply meaning to everything. I don’t put a box on ideas or cage my thoughts. I like to explore the unexplained. I really prefer applying positive outlooks that can enhance my understanding of life. The theory is intriguing. It’s not quite like that eureka moment but it’s speaking to you.

In what ways can we uncover and tap into what we feel like we’re missing? Can it be a revelation? It’s strenuous to join and establish a realization because when we want to remember more the moment fades as fast as it came. But what was it that induced this phenomenon? Demanding an answer is the moment when you try too hard to hit a home run; you won’t hit one. It should instead be welcomed instead of forced by us. Asking the right questions will bring you home.

Return to yourself; return to form. stray too far from yourself, you lose yourself. Remember how you used to be before you took a note to change; to live the way you are now. Don’t harbor in thought too long; practice to be at peace in the now.

Maybe the old you recalls the past as a wiser version of you emerges in a new moment. Maybe the old you is speaking to the wiser you. Maybe the wiser you is thanking the old you for the lessons and memories. You’ve been in this position before, or so it seems.

However the moment captivates and captures you reminiscing, all you have is the now. Let the moment play out but know the next moment is calling for your attention too.

Here comes a memorable time, There goes that Deja Vu.

“To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his.” – Job 12:13

February 25th, 2017 188

“Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain, but simply points the way.”

“Man’s freedom comes through fulfilling his destiny, bringing into manifestation the Divine Design of his life…There is a place that you are to fill and no one else can fill, something you are to do, which no one else can do.”
“Man must prepare for the thing he has asked for when there isn’t the slightest sign of it in sight.”
“The robbers of time are the past and the future. Man should bless the past, and forget it, if it keeps him in bondage; and bless the future, knowing it has in store for him endless joys, but live fully in the now.”
   – Florence Scovel Shinn
I am a big fan and appreciator of Florence Scovel Shinn’s work. I came across her work back in 2015 during some tough times. “The Game of Life and How to Play It” was a book she had written in 1925! But it was the inspiration I had been seeking to find. It lifted me up spiritually and mentally. Florence was wise beyond her years and ahead of her time. The wisdom she offers teaches that times may change but the “Game of life” and its lessons repeat throughout time. It’s a testament and tribute in how we deal with situations and people. In return, our life reflects our reactions. We can win life and control how we attract abundance and prosperity through our divine thoughts and actions; or lose life with our negative thoughts and destructive reactions.

One movie I’m very fond of and portray’s Florence Scovel Shinn teachings so well is “The Pursuit of Happiness” Starring Will Smith; based on a true story. It was a common theme of a “catch 22” situation. For example, Will Smith needed money to get the clamp off of his car tire but not having the financial funds to do so; because he was banking on selling at least 2 of his bone density scanner machines a month; but he wasn’t meeting the goal. So Will smith is behind on rent and needs to find another source of means; for the meantime, and experiences all types of inconveniences in between everything.
All the while, his life is seemingly falling apart; centered around an entrepreneurs dream and unwavering belief in his “Bone density scanner” machine. Will Smith had every reason to fail but something in him would not let him. He made a mark on his superconscious (God within every man, and is the realm of perfect ideas). It feels and looks unattainable but this is our divine design. We drive ourselves crazy for all the wrong reasons; holding on to one right reason why things will work out. We create these perfect storms indeed… Ah, yes. It’s our pursuit of happiness!
As long as we see it, so it shall be. But the truth lies in the eyes. The eyes are the windows of the soul, and through that window, we can see a hidden story of all it took to win that one moment of joy and happiness.
“Man can only receive what he sees himself receiving.”
“If one asks for success and prepares for failure, he will get the situation he has prepared for.”
“The only person to change is yourself. As you change, all the conditions around you will change! People will change! When you are undisturbed by a situation it falls away of its own weight.”

– Florence Scovel Shinn

Writing has really become its own form of divine answers for me. It cracks the codes I seek. From seeing life’s scattered images across my mind, to orchestrating these thoughts on my mental piano; being confirmed with my eyes and silently read. The process of thinking an idea, to creating it is so intriguing to me. Thoughts really are powerful and you’re the engineer of their power. You are ultimately the Divine engineer of your life.

How can you truly know if you’re using your time correctly when each day feels like it’s passing by to no avail? Why does the goal feel so hard to reach but so easy to see? Is there a surface that can be scratched? Or will my efforts stay under the surface and overlooked?

Those countless hours of hard work, physical, emotional, and mental pains; the late nights racking your brain; battling back and forth with your thoughts, thinking “what’s the next move?” Enduring it all, you show up the next day and the next day, and the day after that; then you finally get it.

Without any assurance or promises on how it would come about; persistence wins its day and catches up with you. You played your part; despite uncertain inconveniences, your movements were certain. You stood tall on your coldest nights; now you can stand still with gratitude and rejoice. You showed up every day; every day was counted.

You had to live through it before having a rite of passage; God rights you in the direction, you control how you write the story of your passage. It’s God’s signal to move even when you can’t see the way by sight. Your journey left a faithful imprint; now there’s the imprint left by divine design. No divine work is ever done in vain; the work speaks for itself!
