“Children are a heritage from the lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.” – Psalm 127:3-5
“For you are my hope; O Lord God, you are my confidence from my youth.” – Psalms 71:5
It’s profound to reflect back on my youth. Man, there was nothing like a day with no responsibilities. We enjoy childhood adventures unconsciously in the moments of fun; while subconsciously living in a state optimism. That essence of being a free spirit is invaluable; little do we know we should protect that aura. The older we get, the more a cold reality eats at our enthusiasm. We forget to enjoy the moments. To be appreciative of unseen blessings beyond our comprehension. It can feel as though the weight of the world is on our shoulder’s; but, we never have to carry weight God distinctly instructed us wasn’t an issue. When God calls us to act, we must face and confront any opposing interests of God’s will. No matter what, we should remain confident in passage with our objective in hand. Sometimes, We may need a little extra boost from the youth in us to do so.
I allow the youth in me the ability to believe in the promise land and let the man i am carry out the plan. I allow the youth in me to be my fountain of youth and let the man i am be an example of growth. I allow the youth in me to curiously question what the future holds and let the man i am put those doubts to rest.
This is an ode to the young kid who grew up to become more than what was expected. The kid who set a precedent even with the odds stacked against him. When times get hard remind me intuitively to keep leading the way. Remind me of the history that i made along the way that can inspire the youth of today’s generation. Remind me i can’t stop until I reach the promise land. Never let me forget what it’s like to appreciate the moment like kid’s do; during my trying times as a man on a mission. Remind me that God never breaks a promise, so i can never hesitate to take a step.
“Encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness, and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned; so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.” – Titus 2:6-8
“It’s the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief; and once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen.” – Muhammad Ali
